Highlights since high school
I had some pretty good highs, even now.
Highlights after 1986? Not sure the word 'highlight' properly describes what happened because it's widely known what did happen but actually I had some pretty good highs, even now. For me life was obviously a living hell having the entire frontal lobe of my brain removed due to the wreck. I wasn't the best person before and certainly was even worse after. It took all I had all day every day to at least try to overcome the myriad of conditions both mentally and physically that I had and I did make ground. It took 10-15 years to get to a point where i could even think about college. I always had a mind for contraptions to Mechanical Engineering became my major. I was picked up by a company in Silicon Valley to run the Western U.S. for them as an Aerospace Contractor. This led me to many interesting locations where people far beyond intelligent were gathered to construct or upgrade things that made my jaw drop. Loved that job and career. I got married and divorced, it's not easy living with a guy who sometimes is a monster, seriously, sucks. A few years after the wreck I found Jesus and that's the only reason why I'm still here. It was in the middle of that marriage that He intervened in my condition which was unbearable and made it more bearable. Imagine being stressed out of your mind every day all day for 30 years because the stress switch in your brain is stuck on, that's what it was like, hell on Earth. I'm still far from perfect, that walking on water thing I'm still working on. Now I'm with Wendy, she is truly my gift. There are few on Earth who could not only put up with but understand the immense complexity of Frontal Lobe Syndrome like her. She had an autistic son with Asperger's who was an absolute handful which makes me a Saint lol. We have a great life and travel all the time which is something we both very much enjoy. We live in New England, Maine, where people are genuine and kind and love motorcycles and being outdoors. I bought a Harley when I turned 50, never wanted one but saw one once that was so beautiful it made my jaw drop so I bought one the next day. Riders here are family, kind, funny, hard working, not jerks. I've ridden with Patrick Dempsey on his charity rides, a few years back we had nearly 1,000 bikes, it was crazy. Love to visit my favorite place here in Cape Porpoise once or twice a week called Casa 77. It's on the water where the lobster boats come in and drop off their catch. You can watch while sipping on your favorite beverage or enjoying oysters or muscles in the shell. I'm so excited to see so many of you at this 40th, I've wanted to come before but I was so ensconced in my work and life that I literally couldn't step away. So many of you were what kept me going then and watching your lives along the way from a distance encouraged me to keep trying, so, thank you for that.
